China Conference: Central Asia 2026
ABOUT CHINA CONFERENCE: CENTRAL ASIA
Central Asia is no longer a place the world just passes through on the way to somewhere else – it has become a destination in its own right. The signs are everywhere: a new China-Central Asia friendship treaty has been signed in Astana, the first company to list its shares in both Hong Kong and Astana has gone public, Chinese-led teams have been picked to build many of Kazakhstan's planned nuclear power plants, and the region's most powerful supercomputer has been switched on – with Chinese cloud companies already expanding their presence there. And, for the first time, trade between China and the five Central Asian countries has topped US$100 billion, making China the region's biggest trading partner.
Against this backdrop, and hosted for the first time directly in the region, the South China Morning Post's inaugural China Conference: Central Asia 2026 will bring together senior policymakers, executives and innovators to examine the forces reshaping the China-Central Asia corridor – from cross-border capital and intelligent mining to fintech, infrastructure and the digital silk road.
